A Decade Of Midget Anger

The Angry Midget turns ten today. At the exact moment that this post goes live, in fact.

Ten years. That's big folks.

Double digits. Last year on the hands. Last year in elementary school.

My Angry Midget is not so little any more. She's nearly as tall as me. Less than a foot to go.

She is always teaching me. Always. Usually she's teaching me about patience.

Happy Birthday, Midge. I love you. No matter what.

Parenting: What I've Learned 10 Years In

Ten years ago tomorrow at 9:48 am CST I became a parent.

Ten. Years.

Crap.

That's a pretty long time.

That's two car loans. One third of a mortgage. Twenty times as long as most Hollywood marriages.

So, I've been doing this whole parenting thing for a while now. You'd think I'd have picked up a few pearls of wisdom along the way. You'd think.

The main thing I've learned is that as a parent you never stop learning. Ever. And just when you think you've learned it all, you've seen it all, and you know it all, everything is turned upside down and you have to start all over again.

Oh, and don't argue with a toddler. Just, don't.

They fight dirty.

Let them wear the ridiculous outfit they picked out and tell yourself that they are fashion forward.
